Hastings & St Leonards Rowing Club-- General Info

Hastings is a seaside town in East Sussex UK where it is world famous for its historical links with the Battle of Hastings in 1066. For the past 100 years it has been a popular holiday resort and still has a thriving small boat fishing industry plus the historic Old Town

Our Rowing Club is easily located on the seafront near the centre of town. The entrance is on the Promenade opposite the at the end of Robertson Street. The Club is usually open on Sunday mornings after 10:30 and also Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings after 06:30.

We are Members of the Coast Amateur Rowing Association (C.A.R.A.) which is associated to the national rowing body the ARA.The Coast members stretches all along the Kent and Sussex coastal towns and we attend each others regattas throughout the summer season and gain points on a league basis. The Regattas currently are:

Herne Bay, Deal, Dover, Folkestone, Hastings, Bexhill-on-Sea, Eastbourne, Brighton, Shoreham, Worthing and Southsea

There are individual races, points and trophies for various categories of Fours, Pairs and Sculling boats for all levels of attainment and separate races for men and women.

CLUB EQUIPMENT

5 Coxed Coastal Four Boats- Four people, one oar each and a driver!
3 Coxless Coastal Pairs- Two people, one oar each, no driver!
5 Coastal Sculls- One person, two oars, no driver!
1 Double Scull- 2 people two oars

GYM

We also have a comprehensive gym area with various machines including 4 Concept II Ergometers 9Rowing Machines)

SOCIAL

The Club has a well stocked and luxurious bar at low prices . This is the ideal place to relax after training or rowing and it boosts the club finances! Many functions are organised throughout the year. After training on Wednesday night we have a mini-barbecue.

Full Active membership £40.00 per year

Social/ Cadet(under 16) £5.00

WHAT TO DO NEXT

All you need is a pair of old trainers, some shorts and a sweatshirt; we supply the boats and equipment.

Come on down and have a go on the sea weather permitting.
