The 40 year old boats Teddy Brookes and Wilf Lawrence were given a Viking Funeral send off today. They had to be disposed of to make room for new faster plastic racing boats.
Name plates and bows of the boats were saved for posterity.
A BBQ was organised by Craig and Bar Manager Paul to raise money for the new pair we wish to order in September.
Our sterling doormen ensured £5 "donations" to the new boat were gathered.
Altogether over £200 was added to the fund
The usual suspects were adjacent the bar!
Graeme chairman of the Regatta Committee and family supported the event.
It was a damn cold June evening so everyone was pleased when Paul got the fire lighters out!
All fires start small.
The fire soon took hold in the strong wing.
Vikings soon started appearing from the burning decks.
A job lot of Vikings.
Fresh out of Vikings the Treasurer was sacrificed.
The Hastings Fire Brigade arrived!!
Fortunately they took the unfortunate call out it in good spirits.
