Folkestone Regatta--- Continued
And now for the popular Ladies pairs race.
It was a dead heat into the dans between Shoreham no5
of H Dixon and E Young against no7 Dover's R Bailey and K Stevenson.

However coming out of the turns Dover had gained 1/2
a canvas.

But wot about our girl's Pair of Miss Ella
Muggridge and Vicky Kidd? You may well ask!! |

When they heard that the moored boat contained 30
Russian sailors from the Baltic who had not seen a woman in 4 months they
abandoned the race and headed out to sea!!
We'll probably pick them up when we return to these
parts next Saturday at Deal's Regatta!
Meanwhile back at the Regatta our Senior IV of Ian
Smith, Mark King, Roger Roberts, Paul Knight and cox Mark Edgar easily get
through their heat. Deal were not so lucky at the dans!

Hastings have almost turned while Deal have a Herne
Bay boat coming in fast.

Deal do an emergency manouvre and lose ground. Herne
Bay turn very tightly.
Our next crew was in the Junior Pairs with Messers
Steve Callar and Ben Muggridge on a lonely path in the outside position meeting
only passing supertankers and the odd lost albatross.

The final race of the day before the Regatta was
called off was the Novice IV's. Congratulations to the Folkestone crew of P
Leppard, P Woodsford, K Campbell, C Kirkham and cox M Alderman for a convincing
win.

By the end of the Novice race the wind was getting
stronger and stronger and though keen to row our Senior IV were frustrated yet
again with the second regatta in a row being called off half way
through.
ps....I wonder where our ladies are right
now?
