What a fantastic event.!!

Brilliantly organised from Start to Finish!!!

unless you happen to be the odd crew who didn't!!

Anyway it all started on Friday night with a terrific welcome, buffet meal and freebie drinks!

Above are some of the colourful characters to be met at this sort of function!!

The Grand Draw was the excuse.

Mrs Barbara Crouch and Kate Barnet discuss the appalling fall in standards over the last 40 years they have known each other!

And then disaster!!

Mr Graham Dawes , on special request from the Bexhill Hard of Hearing Society, was asked to do a rendition of "My Way"

A table immediately collapsed!!.

Previously it was thought that only Kiri te Kanawa could break a glass but a full blown Dawes was like a Typhoon destroying a complete table. Amazing!!

However lets rush on to Saturday.

It was a glorious day. The sun was fantastic , the winds fresh from the East but the seas not too bad.

In fact your humble scribe and photographer was on the beach about 50 yards from the finish for about 6 hours and managed to get a bad dose of Sunstroke which resulted him spending most of the day in bed on Sunday!!

At first the Bexhill beach was quiet with just a gentle Turnstone going about his duty on the beach.

However dead on 09:45 the racing started and continued interrupted until 3pm. A fantastic feat of organisation!

(As a side issue Hastings Council are putting in a bid , via the Hastings Rowing Club to get the 2012 Olympic Beach Volleyball Championships moved from Horseguards Parade to a more suitable location, i.e. Hastings Beach. We might call upon some of the Bexhill organisers for assistance!)

At the top of the page are pictures of , nearly all, racing crews about 50 yards from the finish.

The info is gathered from the programme plus my understanding of what our old friend Dave Barnett was giving out on the loudspeaker!

Hence I will be pleased to correct any errors!!!

(A plea to the Dartmouth organizing Committee 2006. Please put in the program a shirt design, rather like jockey patterns at horse race meetings, of the various clubs colours and designs,. Too many are blue and white,

white and blue, white with blue sash etc!!!)

...and afterwards its to the tent to discuss the days events and the end to the 2005 Season!

Hastings only won one pot! and that was for coxing another crew!!

Just think if we had actually won something!!!

However we are still proud of you Ella!!!

.and then it started getting dark!!!

Jump into the dark
